Subwoofer integration
« on: 30 Jan 2020, 08:58 pm »
Looking to see if anyone knows of a good step-by-step guide to integrating dual subs with bookshelf mains.

I don't have a HT receiver so any adjustments would need to be tweaked on the A370PEQ amps. I do have a UMIK-1 but have not done any REW measurements yet. Is that a good place to start? Or are there some basic setup steps I should do first?

Can you adjust delay in the subs? I’d suggest getting a minidsp HD 2x4 for the subs and you can get everything time aligned that way and then use any eq where needed, especially if you already have a umik.

Yes, the A370 has a time delay(phase control) up to 16mS delay available.

Mike has a pretty detailed   summary somewhere, I  just  can't recall what thread ....
In a   nutshell,   do  one  channels at a time  ..  start by  taking a speaker measurement   and determine    the -6 db  point of the speaker
Do a measurement of the sub on  it's own for that  channel,  try and match the  -6db point.
Do a measurement of   the  speaker / sub combo and see  if  they   bring the  -6 db point up to flat    take it down further... dial in the phase   to  eliminate  cacelation if    any is present...  some   placement  alterations may also be necessary.  You can  use the  PEQ to  deal with    a major node/null.

Repeat for  other speaker/sub combo

Tweak from there
