Anybody have any experience with the Epson Eco-tank printers? Pros? Cons?

I have 2 Epson colour printers. I only use them for scanners now. Mostly printing black and white nowadays. Brother laser printer has been perfect for that. No nonsense operation unlike the two Epson.

The idea is a good one. I have sworn to never buy another Epson printer, so will let others see if it does save money on inks. I also love my Brother B/W printer.

I will never buy another Canon.

What happened with Epson?

all these printer makers treat the actual printer as the giveaway unit, and expect to earn from the continuing ink cartridge purchases over time... wonder what epson is trying to do with this...  seems like a death knell for that business model

Epson is not the only one doing this, I'm pretty sure HP and Canon (at least) also have models.  The printers are substantially more expensive than comparable cartridge-ink printers, so I suspect there is an alternative business model at work here?  Thus I would not automatically assume that pros and cons of the maker's cartridge-ink models will necessarily apply.

I've actually thrown away a less than year old Epson because a new ink cartridge cost more than a new printer with an ink cartridge. Ridiculous.

Never throw away a printer. They typically can be used as a $30 trade-in at Staples on certain models. Even if you don't purchase there, someone might.
