I really like 7N7s. They are precursors to the 6SN7 and are electrically equivalent. They use a loctal base so you just need a loctal to 8 pin adapter which are easy to get on eBay.
The 7N7 has a very clean, neutral and detailed sound.
Did I say that they are very inexpensive?
