Sealed vs OB subs with regard to placement

Which is more forgiving, sealed or OB subs, with regard to room placement. In particular, is one more likely than the other to sound good near a wall?

Depends how you plan on placeing them next to wall. If placed firing parallel along with the wall then either will be fine but the open baffle will have to have atleast 3 to 4 feet behind it. The sealed if placed in a corner or even a little out from a corner will have it lower end boosted some From reflections within the first 1 to 2ms behind the sub also bouncing forward/out towards you.

So i guess the sealed would be more forgiving. But if at all possible get/build the open baffle servo subs. I have built 2 dual 12" and ill never go back. I even bought another ported rhythmic servo subs for behind the couch for movies for the very bottom end 40hz down

The advantage of the open baffle subs is that they don't pressurize or load the room the way a sealed or ported sub will. So less room boom. The disadvantage is that they have to be placed further out into the room.

Does a sealed sub pressurize the room differently if placed further out in to the room also? Is this advantageous?

Sealed subs get more lumpy in their response if not corner loaded, IME.

Lumpy? That's a new one for me.
