Downsizing of my audio system continues. Selling my Cary SLP98 preamp/linestage in gleaming chrome with black/metal gray faceplate. It was updated to add HT-Bypass and comes with an upgraded set of tubes.

Preamp is currently being serviced by Cary in Cary, NC. They do an exceptional job servicing these units. They will check everything out, test it in their listening room, and polish the chrome to be like new, before it gets shipped to you. I know because that is exactly how I bought it from the previous owner who dropped it off at Cary for a thorough checkup and installation of HT Bypass. It looked just like new and sounded amazing when I got it from them.

Additionally, buyer will have an option to get certain upgrades done, while the unit is still at Cary and thus save on shipping back and forth. Cary have suggested some upgrades, as described on their site https://www.caryaudio.com/upgrades-and-modifications/ which is expected to take the SLP98 to a whole new level. These are understood to far exceed the F1 upgrades that go for a much higher price.

Adding a phono-stage is also an option available at their website..

I am the second owner and bought the unit about 7 years ago. I switched to another preamp about 4 years ago but couldn't bring myself to let this one go till now.

I’ll provide the serial # to the potential buyer so he/she can confirm everything and make a choice regarding the upgrades.

You will be getting a preamp that is functionally perfect - Cary will make sure of that, and that looks beautiful. The only issue I could see was a barely noticeable scratch along side top edge of the faceplate. Please see the note in second picture.

Quick update  - Added pictures of the actual item and updated the includes list. I will confirm the set of tubes by tomorrow.

Also want to add a note commending Cary's service team. I had forgotten to take pictures before sending it in. I requested if they could take some pictures, and got back these pictures (uploaded) next morning. Steve at Cary is a class act.
