Hi Guys,

I bought a Bryston BDP 1 from an authorised dealer in Australia.  This is one of the best components I've ever owned in my system.  Due to a house move its been in storage and I've never updated the firmware (currently S0.98 2011-04-01).  The user guide states:

'Enter bryston-bdp-1.local in the ad- dress bar of your computers web browser to connect to the BDP-1 and select Firmware from the list of choices that is displayed. A list of available updates should now be displayed. Click on the desired file- name to initiate the update.'

Update option does not show on my system.  Can someone offer advice how to upgrade as I would like to take advantage of Manic Moose and also streaming using Tidal.

ps. no idea how to place the unit in service mode.

Hi Rocket,

Canadian Beaver S0.XX doesn’t contain a service mode please see the instructions below.  The screenshots will look a little different, but everything should still be in the same place.

Thank you for the response and information.  I've downloaded firmware 20170201.bin and saved it to my desktop.  I have followed the below step, however, I must be missing a something as the below process isn't working.  Any ideas?

if after 30 seconds it doesn't start, try pushing the update button once more.  If it still isn't working either call us (Bryston) or try the alternative methods of upgrading.

Hi Chris,

I had the dealer send my bryson bdp 1 to the eastern states of Australia and they successfully updated the firmware to the latest one.  It was an early unit and wouldn't update automatically as an option. Better to leave it to the experts.  I had no idea what I was trying to do .

All good now just trying to sort out Tidal at the moment.
