I use granite and marble slabs to good effect in my system, look in my AGon system. I note I didn't pay a penny for any of them, due to there being a local stone business that has no problem with persons going through the discard pile. Looks like it could be a little expensive to ship those bricks...

For $50 it's kind of pricey (although the marble does look really nice). You could do something similar for a lot less money:

You can buy a granite plate from grizzly.com and have it shipped to you for around $20.

Between the granite and your component you could put some thin pieces of sorbothane. Mcmaster.com used to sell sheets & strips of it at pretty reasonable prices, but it's not on their site any more. Not sure why that is. Edmund Scientific still sells it, but it's a little more expensive. Someone is also selling pads of sorbothane for $4 on audiogon. These aren't the right size to use beneath a component, but they'd work fine for this purpose.

Hope that helps.

I found a local place that sells stone pretty cheap - the slate slab was around $8, and the granite cobblestone they "threw" in for free...

Have a drive through the Yellow pages, and look for building supply stores that carry pavers, slabs etc, then go and find the right sizes for your application - those places are used to selling 100's of lbs, so when you wander in with that in your hand, they just laugh...

I agree with Gary, that sorbothane can be useful in concert with mass, and lightly inflated inner tubes can help too.

That's a whole lot of rock & rubber. I think I might try the grizzly.com stuff. The audiogon granite looks pretty, but it's a little bit expensive.
