Selling my Cary/AES 300B amp.
This was my first entry into the single ended rabbit hole. I had owned tube amps before but had never experienced the magic of an SE amp.
This amp can run 2A3/300B/6A3 tubes with a simple bias adjustment. It will come with new Genelex Gold Lion 300B tubes. The new 300B tubes cost about $200. For the input tubes I will include some 5691(6SL7) tubes and some NOS 7F7(6SL7) tubes with their loctal to 8 pin adapters. The 5961s have a nice mellow sound but the NOS 7F7s are NOS and sound great, with excellent clarity and image depth. The output transformers and PS transformer are very hefty. The circuit is most likely a Dennis Had design. Comes with schematic, original instruction sheet, and bias adjusting connector.
This amp has received upgrades over the years. Better input wiring, Hovland PP coupling caps, Solen PP caps added to the power supply, and Elna SILMIC II cathode bypass caps most recently. Cosmetics are age appropriate with some scratches and fading but it is still good looking.
It would be hard to find better 300B sound for well under $1K.
