This is the best DAC I've heard to date and I'm only selling it because I bought a matched Comet and Ion amplifier in Silver.
This Exogal is black and
INCLUDES the matching black outboard power supply, which is about a $600 upgrade. This unit has been in a pet free, non-smoking home and is in excellent condition.
There are
well over a dozen reviews of the Comet Exogal that can be found at Exogal.com. The
Comet has been routinely compared (favorably) with $8000 to $12,000 DACs.
The technology developed by the likes of the former Wadia team is unique and well conceived. Also, I've contacted Exogal twice with random questions and always received a quick detailed reply.
Everything works great and has provided flawless operation; there are no issues whatsoever. I am at work and have no pictures available now, but I will take pictures and post over the weekend. Cosmetically the unit is near perfect aside from one minor blemish on the REAR of the unit. [I did not notice it for a few months and obviously, you'll never see it from the side or front]. The unit is about two years old.
You can operate the unit via a small remote (provided), a tablet, phone, etc. One reason I purchased the Comet is that the pre-amp section is known to be extremely transparent. The Comet was designed to be a direct to amp unit so the pre-amp section is not an afterthought and does not introduce any noise or veil as some potentiometers do. [If you wish, it can connect to a traditional pre-amp]. I found it sounded best in my system with no outboard pre-amp.
In addition, it has an excellent headphone output.
For the money, I don't think there's anything out there with the sound, value and technology proposition offered by the Exogal Comet.
I have 100% positive feedback on several audio sites including usaudiomart under the moniker soundquest. I've probably had 20 plus transactions HERE, too.
