I happily left the speaker construction to Rick and his cabinet maker in 2014 when I purchased my Ottavo.  However, the outcome of the discussion was to use Baltic birch ply instead of MDF but I don't think I'll be building any speakers in the foreseeable future as the Ottavo are fabulous.  Here is the thread about my Ottavo:  https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=128931.0

I priced out the 4x8 sheets of Bamboo... $250 per sheet for 3/4"....notsure if I can afford it though I will need about7 sheets.

Question: what do the edges look like when cut with the vertical Bamboo sheets?

It depends on how the ply is constructed. Here's one example of a line array we made.

So no trim pieces are needed for a smooth edge?

Vertical plyboo bamboo plywood.

So the medium quality stuff. Also easier to ding than the best stuff (stranded or fossilized or whatever, depending on the plywood source.

Thanks, not sure what i will do. When you brought up the dinging easily it reminded me of when i had Bamboo flooring installed, and the workers put down some blue painters tape... When we pulled up the painters tape it pulled the dark finish right up. I notified Lumber Liquidators, and they said it had never happened before. I took a spare piece and put a piece of blue painters tape on it, and let it sit overnight. I then lifted the tape partially off, and saw the finish peel off. I sent it to them and got a refund on the whole shipment of bamboo. Of course i was stuck with a floor that i had paid to install that was no good.
