Looking to change it up a bit and try something different in my second system. These Linkwitz Orions were built using Wood Artistry flat packs and have been built to 3.3.1 specification. The ASP (analog signal processor) has had further revision to SN configuration by Don Barringer using tightly matched resistors and capacitors.
These have the magnet mounted Seas excel midrange driver. It's important to note that the midrange drivers are not mounted to the front baffle at all. They also incorporate the rear mounted Seas Excel tweeters and Wood Artistry mounting panel. The ASP has had all of the midrange EQ, HF network and 100-200Hz shelving network upgrades and has been taken a few steps further by Don Barringer to SN level. These have been upgraded as far as you can take the Orions in 3.3 configuration. The only modification left would be to upgrade them to 3.4 configuration which replaces the Peerless woofers with higher excursion Seas woofers and associated ASP changes. I find no need to pursue this expensive upgrade as the Orions sound fantastic as they currently sit.
The Orions are a game changing speaker. They have unrivaled speed, accuracy and detail. They are incredibly transparent and spacious in their sound. The Seas mids are silky smooth and the tweeters have incredible detail with no trace of fatigue. The open baffle/dipole design lends to their speed and tight punchy bass. This is a speaker that truly must be experienced. Retail versions of this speaker sold for $15k.
Here's a breakdown of their drivers incorporated:
Qty (4) Seas Millenium Excel tweeters - $304 ea
Qty (2) Seas Millenium Excel midranges - $316 ea
Qty (4) Peerless XLS woofers - $146 ea
Total driver cost - $2432
Please note these are active speakers that require 8 channels of amplification. I am including a Rotel RM-1048 at my asking price and all associated cabling. Original box and manual for the Rotel are included. Prefer local pickup but will meet a buyer half way, up to 3 hours from 16323, to make a deal. I can palletize these speakers for an addition fee, but I will not make any transportation arrangements. I will leave that to the buyer to coordinate. Please feel free to send me a message with any questions.
Edit to add: I somewhat regularly travel to the Lexington/Louisville, KY area for business and might be able to deliver these along the way. Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Lexington, Louisville, etc. I'm also willing to drive up to 2 hours away from 16323 to make a deal.
