I'm looking for a speaker that would have 4-6 midrange panels, and one FST on top (similar to the Elixir).

No other drivers, as I would want it to be only as wide as the panels for better horizontal dispersion, and better imaging.

I would want it to be only about 6" deep, just enough to absorb the back wave.  For the obsorbtion, I would like the back 3" to be fiberglass, and the 3" closest to the drivers to be lambswool.

I would like it to be about 72 inches tall, so the drivers would not go down to the ground.

I would like the FST to be adjustable vertically.

I would want 3 sets of binding posts, set 1 for passive XO, set's 2 and 3 for active XO.

This would be mated to a sub module at 200 -300 hz.

Basically this is a taller, narrower,  much less deep RM30 without the 6" cones/passives and with more midranges and an aimable FST.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

This is more or less what I had been expecting VMPS to release for a few years.  I kinda expected something like this, this year at CES.  Must be a reason why BC hasn't done it as things like this have been mentioned before quite a few times iirc.

I think it's because it might canabalize some Elixir sales.....

I think he sure would sell a lot of them though.

One reason for not having the low frequency module built in is that often those sound better in other places in the room then where the higher frequncy modules are.

One issue is midbass, if it was just neopanels and FST in one cab and bass modules seperate there could be no real midbass.  BC, AFAICT, adds midbass that the neopanels can't give by using a lot of overlap in the midbass driver to neo panel.   I think you would still need to address the midbass inside the Neopanel tower.  The midbass is localized so it needs to originate from the same position.

Rob,

Maybe Brian will bring this one out of MothBalls for you, shove an FST pod on top of the Ribbon Panel section and remove the tweeter from the Woofer section and you're there.

This is the SUPER TOWER III Ribbon Edition.

Although I have never seen (or heard one) I think the ribbon section is simply attached.

Looks like Big B, built your speaker over 10 years ago.

Yeah, I guess he did  :o

I read a post on AA that BC made about 2 years ago where he said he made the III's with 9 panels each.

I wonder what they go for and if he feels the Elixir or III's are better.

Actually, I forgot this is a "dipole", but it could be enclosed, damped, and padded down :o

Only he can answer that, but I have a feeling the bass would be freakin killer. :o

And the info reads "FREE SWINGING TWEETER?????"  He must have had his Neodynium Ball to know about that!!

In any event, back then they were "only" $20,900, with a set up visit from B, himself.

Kinda his "travel/vacation" speaker. 8)

I agree with Josh on this one.  The neopanels is absolutely wonderful for midrange but lacking the body.  Proper intergration of small woofers (5"?) would add body to midrange and speed to midbass.
