Does anyone have a recommendation for reasonably priced earphones or headphones for use at the gym?  

I am looking for a pair that is not too cumbersome to lug around, has good clarity on voices, can take a bit of abuse from being carried in my gym bag, and won't slip off as I am bobbing up and down on the elliptical walker.

Senn PX100s. But to really cut down on the noise from machines and music blaring, I say go for Etymotic ER6i. Not cheap but you won't have to blast your ears to hear music. They have 20db of isolation.

The Senn px100's are excellent, but perhaps not the best model for your intended use. The Senn px200's are 90% of the px100's soundwise, but are of a closed design & have 'pleather' ear pads - better for workouts. The px100's are open phones & have non-replaceable foam earpads. The portapros are also supposed to be excellent.
