What subs are fast enough to keep up with Lowthers, Fostex?

All:

I have heard some very fast subs that lag behind Fostex drivers.  I heard some of the faster, smaller VBT's with some Abby's this weekend, and although they sounded good, I felt like there was a delay.  Could have been a phase issue.

Are there subs out there fast enough to keep up?

Thx!

Hantra,

I don't know what price range you are looking for, but the boys over at Zu have their new sub coming out very soon. They are claiming that it is one of the fastest 15" and most musical subs out there. I have one scheduled to ship to me by the end of this month. I will post opinions when I get it.

I have had good results with a Velodyne 1500R with mods.  I replaced the power cord with a 14 gauge and grounded it to the chassis (mostly for static discharge).  Then I doubled the capacitors in the power supply and bypassed with smaller .5Ufd film caps.  This speeded-up the response nicely.  Now I have a fast sub that is also very low-distortion due to the servo-control.

I can't imagine a VBT not being fast enough with it's six inch driver. You need to be aware of 1 thing with these subs though, sometimes you will need two to get enough volume in a large room. They also have several models, some passive and a new active one. I would dig a little deeper if audition one in your system if you have the chance.
