This is the actual pair of RM40s that Brian sent Marty DeWulf at Bound For Sound to review.  They were Marty's reference speakers to compare all others to for a few years. Built in 2008. They have the MLS cabinets with 20 lbs. extra bracing in each cabinet.  They have all of Brian's best upgrades except the outboard X-over.  They have stunning bookmatched rosewood veneers with them centered on the middle front of the cabinets and having an identical graining pattern comparing both speakers on 5 sides.  They would be a 7-8 condition on Audiogon.  They had 2 years where thy were just stored in Marty's garage as he couldn't move them anymore.  I became the proud owner as I only live 2 hours from him.  I was the demonstrator for some of VMPS' speakers in the Chicago area during Brian's last 4-5 years.  After his passing, I tried to downsize a little as lifting 260 lb. cabinets up the stairs if I moved would be getting a little tougher at 66.  One can move them rather easily on the floor by themselves as they are designed to work without spikes.  I didn't want to have poorer sound, however.  Several tries later, I still failed at finding a better or even equal speaker to these puppies at anywhere near reasonable price.  I finally found the speaker I will hold onto as long as we both shall live--Vapor Audio Joule Black with many upgrades.  Was able to get them at a great price because of some veneering defects.  As great as these new, to me, speakers are, it still took me several months and a couple key changes to the Vapors to finally put the RM40s to rest in my system.  The Vapors are one of the great speakers made today and the RM40s I have for sale were not embarrassed by any means.  It took a good set of footers under all 4 cabinets of the Vapors to really make a difference.  The RM40s have the TRT caps, Audio Analysis silver wire, soundcoat, MLS cabinets, Brian Cheney Signature Edition, MLS cabinets, rosewood veneers, FST ribbon tweeter.

They are available to listen to 35 miles SW of Chicago in Plainfield, IL.  They WILL NOT be shipped.  Buyer will get help to lift them up the stairs and into a good sized vehicle from me.  These were hand tweaked with care for review by Brian Cheney, with beautiful cabinets and veneering by Mark Schifter.  One of maybe 3 RM40s made at this level of performance.  All drivers are in very good condition.  VMPS RM40s have adjustable ribbon tweeters, ribbon midranges, and bass so you can get great sound in most any room.  Pictures coming soon.  Read the many great reviews on the RM40s online.  This pair is better than those that were reviewed short of BFS' pair, of course.

60586 area code.  Price is $3650.  New retail was $7800.  NO ONE gave the buyer more sound for the money than Brian Cheney.
