Question about Miyajima cartridges
« on: 17 Nov 2018, 07:25 pm »
I am relatively new here and was hoping to get some thoughts on Miyajima cartridges. The Miyajima website gives the impression that the different cartridges have different characters rather than just refinement of a particular character with their higher priced models, but I might be misreading this. Any thoughts on any of the stereo cartridges or comparisons between different models (for example Saboten vs Saboten L or Madake) would be great.

Many thanks.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

The language euphemisms of Chinese and Japanese manufacturers are especially directed to the local audiophiles and only make sense in that region where audiophiles know the meaning of these self-praise. However seems a good option if the price is realistic.

I own a stereo Madake and a mono Zero and really like them both.  I had an Etna SL before the Madake and prefer the Madake.  The Etna sound is a little thinner.

Thank you for your thoughts. I thought the description might be a translation issue, but your explanation of their use of language makes sense.
Interesting to hear the comparison with the Etna. I mostly listen to piano jazz (Bill Evans) and female vocalists. The fuller sound you describe of the Madake sounds like a good fit for that.
