Air Tight ATM 3 Mono amps for sale
« on: 11 Mar 2014, 03:44 am »
Selling my loved Air Tight ATM 3's to finance a new business venture. These were purchased as demos from GTT Audio, an Airtight dealer in NJ, and I've enjoyed them. These are hard wired, point to point, with copper clad foundation, and the legendary Tamura transformers. The ATM 3 uses six EL34's per side to put out 110 wpc in ultralinear mode, and 55wpc in pure triode mode (my favorite).

Jonathan Valin gushed over these amps in Absolute Audio, going so far as to say he'd never heard a better amp for powering his Quads. Positive Feedback reviewed them positively. They really are the cats meow if you love EL34 amps.

These are the later versions that feature the Tom Tutay upgrades implemented by Air Tight, which include an IEC removable AC connection, so you can use your favorite power cord (not included), and the high end binding post and RCA connectors.

These amps come with Winged C's EL34s with very moderate use. The large dial in on the faceplate is the bias meter; take off the two screws holding the dark cover and there are six screws to bias each of the tubes. The tubes hold their bias quite well. I've used them to amazing success with the Aesthetix Calypso pre-amp (also for sale) and various speakers, from Merlin TSM MM's to Tannoys to Devore Audios. Triode mode is frankly amazing, and if you want to add more weight and slam (at a light expense in transparency), turn off the amps, switch to ultralinear, and rock on.

The condition of these amps is conservatively a 6/10 on the Audiogon scale. The cages (which I kept stored) came with noticeable scratches on the tops, and the amps have a few nicks and scratches. These are not noticeable at ten paces, but you can see them when about 1-2 feet away if you are looking for it. I received a good discount as these were demos, and the condition did not impact my enjoyment. You can easily get the cages repainted if it bothers you. They really are beautiful amps, just not in as-new condition.

Ok, drum roll....these amps currently sell for $20k new. My asking price: $7500.00 I am in the Seattle area, and of course would prefer a sale in the PNW, but I have the original boxes and can ship these, insured, to the 48 states. If you are outside the 48 states, I'll have to think about this, as I've shipped gear internationally before and it's a bit of a hassle to arrange shipping charges. You pay for shipping and insurance and paypal. My Audiogon feedback is available on request and stellar (though it's been a while since I've last bought or sold gear).

No trades, please. Remember, business venture is the reason for the sale, so your gear won't do me any good. PM me for any details.

JFYI, these were sold in 2014. I still get emails asking if I had them.

JFYI, you can edit the subject line in the original post with a big old "SOLD" sign. This will keep those pesky emailers away. :thumb:
