Yeah, the tone controls probably don't help much; but they're presumably expected by the market segment this amp is aimed at.
Wow, $24.00 ? You couldn't DIY something comparable for that price.... That moves the total cost to more like $78...

I'm sure it's not 'high-end' by any stretch, but this is the kind of setup that would potentially get young people interested in moving beyond crappy-sounding 'smart' speakers for their home music listening. (I've never heard one that sounds good; it's just a question of how much one-note bass they put out.) Gotta get up off your (_Y_) to change the volume though- unless you hook a BT receiver up to the input...
