Hi, I will put this Q in th epublic forum since it can help others.

Just received my gear (AV1RS and AV3S), now all the M130 seem similar, but I know that two of them are 8 and the other two are 16 ohms.

- How can I set them appart ? (other than measuring them)

One of the tweeters had the indication of AV1RS.

Is that incation for any reason, or all the tweeters are the same ?

Look at magnet size of them compared to each other. The one's with the larger magnet is the 16 ohm version. The smaller magnet size are the 8 ohm version. Sorry, I usually write something on the packing.

All of the tweeters are the same. They are all tested and measured. Then they are then grouped into near identical pairs. So that when anyone orders a pair of speakers or a pair of tweeters they are a matched set.

Keeping looking and you'll see that one more tweeter says A/V-1RS. I write that on there so that you will know that pair is for those speakers. They are a matched set of tweeters.

The one that says nothing on it is for your single A/V-3S center channel speaker.

With our new version 7.0 Clio measuring system we are now storing the response curve for each tweeter sold.

So if you kid ever sticks his tinker toy through one of your tweeters and destroys it, we can look up the response curve of it and send out another near identically matched tweeter.

That is an exceptional idea, one I first read about in an article about Avalon I think.

Good call.

On the subject of kids and tinker toys....

How funny you should mention that!  It just so happens that a kid (just which one will never be known to me) did virtually that to one of my tweeters.  My house is also for sale so people and their kids are wandering about all the time, so who knows what happened.   I tried the hair dryer trick, but it creased and looks to be cut.  :(

I wish I had a tweeter saved in your system, but I have some rather old school first generation 'wide-body' AV-3s.  They have the big older woofers and the first generation tweeters.  (T-1, I think)
Can I just order a new pair of matched tweeters and drop them in, or would that mess up the sound?  Can I put T2s in there?  Thanks for the help....

I have some matched pairs of GR-T1's on a close out sale right now. Sounds like picking up a pair of them would be a good idea for you.

GR-T2's are a drop in replacement too. So if in the future you need more replacements it will not be a problem.

Thanks, Danny.  I'll check the web site for those as soon as I'm finished with the move.  I really appreciate your quick response.
