Not everyone has the luxury of a "dedicated" home theatre, here’s my modest dual system…128" retractable motorized screen, Bryston 3BSST 2 for the fronts .....
,Dynaudio Special 25s (get draped in black velvet for "real" movie nights, center Dynaudio Contour

Bryston 2B LP pro powering Dynaudio 42Ws for the rears....... and the BHA-1/ Sennheiser hD800s for personal music and movie listening….

As the system doubles for music and movies I’m currently using an Emotiva XSP-1 Gen II which accommodates not only home theatre pass through but also "crossover" subwoofer base management …. hint hint James

What’s important though is when the lights go down. : )

ps..no comment on the fronts speakers. with 16:9.....my original plan was for a smaller screen but hey when you can do the full width...why not.  :thumb:

hey rob80b, that's a pretty cool looking setup. What subwoofer are you using?

one more thing....I'm no expert, but i believe using the terminals on the back of the power amplifier to feed the subwoofer  -  and control the 'crossover' frequency on the subwoofer itself - just might sound 'better'.

My thinking is connecting the sub directly to the power amplifier will maintain the same sonic signature as your L & R speakers connected to the same amp.  Otherwise, feeding the sub from the preamp (Emotiva) carries with it the sonic signature of the Emotiva, and would be inconsistent with the signal hitting your main speakers. If it's possible with your subwoofer, it might be worth a try to see if your overall sound is more Bryson-like :)

It's a self powered Velodyne DD12 with built in DSP which was absolutely essential in this room, I have managed to get a fairly flat frequency response and crossover configuration.

one more thing....I'm no expert, but i............feeding the sub from the preamp (Emotiva) ...............

Having the sub manage the crossover is the normal procedure for a 2.1 music set-up ....in this instance the sub out from the AVP is not processed by the preamp for movies, because my room is used for music and home threatre..... the Emotiva XSP-1 manages the crossover between the sub and the mains for music only but allows a full pass through for the AVP  which then manages the subwoofer (the .1) a 5.1 (or higher) set up...this way one can have their cake and eat it too.
The Bryston BP17 would have been a contender but only supports, if I'm correct, HT bypass for the mains only and not the sub out from the AVP.
