Maggie 1.6s and Amps
« on: 6 May 2018, 09:26 pm »
I currently have a Bryston 4B SST2 pushing these, but I’m thinking of going either tube or upgrading to say a 14B SST2.

Anyone have any practice with Maggies and a 14B?

Thanks,
Sid

I don't own Bryston but I do own 1.6's and they will benefit from the effortless clean power of the 14B.  You will notice it in the dynamics, other wise probably not much benefit except if the 14B is more musical or detailed.  I run a Pass X250 at 500wpc with a BAT tube preamp to get a touch of that tube sound.

James - have you ever tried SST's with Martin Logan's Prodigy speakers?

...drive my Martin Logan CLSZ2s with a 14BSST and see/hear no reason to upgrade.

This is the current configuration, the amp would be a nice upgrade. I think the room could use some treatments, just due to the angles.

That’s a nice setup. I could get those amp, as long as they come with a divorce attorney.    :D
