Should I consider a power conditioner? And if so...

I have just cobbled together an interesting (mostly used) system, and am thoroughly enjoying the process. I am, however, a bit unsure how to proceed with respect to power conditioners. I have never previously owned one, though I have had a couple of nice systems. Having researched a bit, I am inclined to consider either a PS Audio or Blue Circle unit.

I'm interested both in general comments about the need for such expensive devices, and any specific thoughts relating to the above-mentioned brands (or others).

Here's my system (thus far):

Bryston B60 integrated amp (owned a Bryston amp 25 years ago!)

Green Mountain Audio Europa Max speakers (the only new component)

Rega Planet 2000 CD player (really liked the original Planet)

Accuphase T-100 tuner (my first foray into the world of vintage tuners)

Audio Magic Sorcerer speaker cables

Osiris speaker stands (discontinued; luckily found a used pair)

Thanks in advance!

Tony

My suggestion is, save yourself some money, have some fun and tweak a Powervar or OneAC unit to meet your needs for WAY less than you'd spend on many other options.  Depending on your power needs you can pick up a 12A Powervar for around $200 or so, add another $100 - 150 or so for dynamat for damping (ebay), ERS cloth (cryotweaks) and cryo'd outlets and wire (VH audio) and you'll have something better than either of those mentioned for less money.

Let me know if you have any questions, I've done about 8 of these.

The ideas Byteme concur with my own. You will have at least as good a conditioner and for far less. Check out Ebay. If you're not upto mods then bone stock they work well.  The Powervar and Oneac's are true power conditioners, not b.s. like Monster or something. Retail on them is very high but used they are a steal at 10 to 20 cents on the dollar or so.  Also they will last a long long time.
