Hello
« on: 5 Apr 2018, 01:25 am »
I'm 59 married with four adult children, operate an ISP called Eskimo North.  In the late 60's and 70's I built many vacuum tube projects from audio amplifiers to bootleg radio transmitters.  I'm presently using solid state audio gear but it's a matter of economics and not preferences.  I can't afford tube equipment at the power levels required to reproduce audio at the levels I enjoy.  I find the sound of solid state amplifiers to be over damped, harsh, and somewhat unforgiving if even slightly overdriven.  I've built many tube amplifiers and would build myself a nice high powered rig if only big output transformers weren't so bloody expensive.  Anyway, I landed on this site following an image of a strange vacuum tube that I was unfamiliar with.

Welcome aboard Robert :thumb:
Tube prices are awful today, ever worse is the low hours these tubes lasts, most lasts under 1K hours only in a no soft start amp.
