Long-Time Audiophile and Headphile
« on: 3 Mar 2018, 05:02 pm »
I have been a general audiophile - and avid headphile - for more than 37 years since the age of 14.  First headphones were an AKG K240 Sextette (6 passive radiators) and the still respectable AKG K340 electret-dynamic cans acquired in 1981.  I’ve been absolutely hooked ever since. Was voraciously consuming issues of Stereophile (the original J. Gordon Holt publication) since high school, with The Absolute Sound (the original Harry Pearson publication) following soon thereafter.  Current headphone inventory includes that same pair of AKG K340’s, AKG K701, AKG K812, Sennheiser HD650, Sennheiser HD800, Denon D5000, Denon D7000, Denon AH-A100, Fostex TH900, HifiMan HE-500, HifiMan HE-6, Audeze LCD-XC, Audeze LCD-4, Shure SE-846, Stax SR-007 MK2, and Stax SR-009.

Welcome Gerb0075 :thumb:
I have a prob w/headphones his hi price and small sound stage made them hard to listen. I have only HE400 the SQ is great but soundstage not larger than a loudspeaker.

In your HD800 what is the soundstage size?

Welcome to the sweet spot.

Curious about the two Staxes- 007 and 009- 009 has a 'rep' for brightness, which I did not notice auditioning them. Some seem to prefer the 007 to the 009, but I've never heard the 007. I'd be curious as to your 'take' on the relative merits.
