Mapletree Audio What's new for 2005

Over the past month, I have been swamped with orders and haven't had time to update this circle, not that I am complaining. The new Super Stealth monobloc power amps with 6V6T push-pull outputs in ultralinear mode are a step up in output power from the original Stealth 5. They come in a standard version which uses matched pairs of Electro Harmonix 6V6GTs and the SE version which has a larger chassis to match the Octal 6/Magic 5 preamps and includes tube rectification with a choke filter, plus provision for heater voltage switching and dc balance for non-matched output tubes. The input stages use the same configuration as the Stealth 5, with a 12SJ7 voltage amplifier and a 12SC7 cathode-coupled phase inverter. The sound is very similar to the Stealth 5—very sweet, almost triode sounding. Several assembled units have been sold and a kit version of the standard unit is available when demand arises. Be the first to build the kits and get 10% off the price!

The Ear++ II headphone amplifier is a revised version of the original Ear++ and has the same preamp output buffer stage but now includes individual channel level controls for balance and overall gain adjustment. Two switched line inputs are provided.

The Octal 6A SE is available again for those who liked the 6-tube layout and includes Audio Note tantalum resistors throughout. These great sounding resistors are also standard in the HD versions of the Ear+ and Ear++.

As many of you know, the Black Gate electrolytics are being phased out and there is no equivalent replacement. I will continue to offer Black Gate upgrades as long as supplies remain available. After that ???

If you visit the Mapletree web site, please check out the photo gallery page. It has lots of new photos of customers' amazing custom renderings of MAD products.

All the best for 2005!
