Good news for all... Sony & Toshiba have somewhat agreed to a new format. Looks like they will opt for the Blu-Ray optical format with Toshiba's higher compression and copy protection for higher capacity....

Sony & Toshiba about to agree on new DVD format...

Sony can't afford another Beta war.  Glad they are talking with rivals now.  Heck they even have partnerships with M$ as well, on other matters.  Just warms the cockles of my heart :D
