yes or no?
I dont think its quite as simple as a yes or no answer.
Depends on your listening habits, and what you want from a speaker.
They will do many things extremely well and can be very satisfying within their limits of spls and dynamics.
One thing they will do extremely well is fill a listening space with a deep and wide sound stage.
Properly placed within a room they never failed to amaze me in this regard.
Im am referring to the ESL 63's which I owned over 20 yrs ago but the 2805 is an evolution of the same design.
I remember buying the Eagles Hell Freezes over album, and sitting transfixed in front of them listening to the Hotel California track.
I had just heard the same track on a pair of box speakers and hearing it on the Quads was an amazing experience.
They even surprised me as to the level of slam the could muster as my door was thumping in rhythm to the kick drum.
I eventually sold them as many do, and moved on the bigger stats, namely the Sound Labs A3's.
And while I reveled in their ability to give me more of everything over the Quads, they just could not give me that purity and feeling the Quads were so adept at producing.
