What signal will a Scott Nixon Tube DAC accept?
« on: 9 Dec 2004, 04:34 am »
Am wondering if there are any issues with the Nixon Tube DAC accepting certain digital signals.
I have a Cary 308 and it upsamples to 24/96.
This can be set to 16/44.
If the CD is HDCD, this will kick in when on 16/44 setting.

Will the Nixon DAC accept the 24/96 signal?
If the HDCD kicks in is that a problem for signal locking?

Thanks.

Here is an answer I got from a user on Audio Asylum.
Makes sense.

It uses the CS8412 reciever chip, thus you should only be able to lock to 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz input. The TDA1543 it uses, is a 16Bit DAC so those should be the limit.
