Audio Desk Systeme is a motorized cutting device manufactured in Germany. It is designed to "true" the shape of the CD to reduce mechanical jitter, and also trims the edge of the CD to a 38 degree angle to reduce laser scatter. This edge is then further treated with a black marker. The process takes about 60 seconds and results in pronounced improvements in focus, transient attack, detail and transparency.
Back story, sold this unit last year, but the buyer returned it for a refund. He didn't pack it correctly, so it came back damaged. See pictures be low:
