SOLD SOLD SOLDI've decided to sell my Modwright LS100. With the sale of my Juicy Music I have the chance to jump up the Modwright line by selling this one as well. I love it and I'm curious to move up the Modwright line. I hope I don't regret selling it cause it really is a special preamp.
This is an EXCELLENT preamp. There's a ton of info on it out the web including the Modwright forum here on AC.. You won't find a much nicer specimen of this amp for sale currently... in fact there are very few on the used market at the moment.
It was shocking how much the soundstage width and depth opened up in my main system. My speakers are the most unboxy and transparent they've ever been and there is a ton of air and instrument separation. It's great.
Includes balanced and single ended inputs and outputs. Balance control etc...
Tube rolling is fun with 6SN7's being plentiful.
This preamp just went to Dan Wright in December for a full checkover and it is 100% good to go. He brought it up to the latest spec with a few little updates and played it in their listening room for several days before sending it back. Rest assured you're getting a solid piece.The tubes that were included when I bought it had become very noisy and needed replaced. After rolling several pairs through I settled on a pair of 70's Japanese Production GE 6SN7GT's labeled RTT in it. They will be included and are very quiet as far as NOS 6SN7's go. They are very well balanced in my system but if you want to tailor the sound to your liking there are plenty of options out there. Stock tubes would be Electro Harmonix Gold Pins which are available for $50-60 for a pair if you want to establish a baseline, but most everyone prefers NOS tubes to those.
Includes original box and packing. Manual. Remote control and stock power cord. The GE tubes and a Sovtek GZ34 rectifier are included. I have an NOS Mullard GZ34 which can be negotiated, but I was thinking I'd keep it for use in my next preamp.
I'll post more detailed pics tomorrow. But it's truly 9/10 condition.
