Gallo CL-1 Sale
« on: 15 Dec 2016, 07:02 pm »
Picked up a pair of Gallo CL-1 monitor bookshelf speakers and am entirely impressed.  Real wood, transmission line cabinet . . . now available for less than $200 per pair in black.  Stupid good deal in my opinion.  Have mine playing with a little Marantz CR-611  . . . perfect for our 12x12 den.  Will look to add a cheap and cheerful subwoofer.

The CL1s on eBay sold by The Sawyers Company are manufacturer refurbished.  Apparently Underwood HiFi has purchased all of the remaining new inventory on closeout from Gallo and is selling CL-1 pairs for $249 in black and $279 in cherry.  Don't know what shipping might be.

Don't know if it's beyond your budget, but this is obviously a natural match:

It comes from the same lineup as your CL-1 and they are designed to go together.  Under $500 shipped is a very nice price for this 12 incher.  (His ad says "obo" so I assume he will take even less.)

Over the summer I paid the same for the 10 incher from Underwood.  VG sub, it has paired nicely with the 5 pair of speakers I've tried.  Seller also offers Black ash finish for the same price.  Recently, I've seen used 10 inchers for about 300 bux.

On the 6th of July 2016 the Anthony Gallo Acoustics brand was purchased by the management team behind NWX, AGA’s long-standing European distributor.

The new owners have extensive experience in high-end audio distribution and manufacturing, their acclaimed REVO digital audio brand (www.revo.co.uk) is sold around the world and is the recipient of multiple Red Dot product design awards and What Hi-Fi? magazine Product of the Year accolades.

The new venture will operate from two locations, contact details of which are included below. AGA’s corporate HQ and product development centre will be sited in Lanark, Scotland and will service business in Europe and the Rest of the World, while U.S. sales and service will operate from a new base in San Antonio, Texas, headed-up by Dan Sawyers, a veteran of the audio business.

The official re-launch of the new Anthony Gallo Acoustics will take place at the CES show in Las Vegas, running from the 5th - 8th January 2017.

From Underwood hifi.  A stock.  No refurbs etc.  So, I think the price is pretty darn good.

Actually, I have a pair of the CL-S12 subs in my HT set-up.  Given space considerations, I'm looking for a matching sub that will be less than a 12" cube . . . or so.  BTW, the Gallo subs are terrific with a capital "T".

And now $199 in black . . . hence my comment about a "stupid good deal" . . . I have always really liked Gallo loudspeakers.

Same here and great value at that price, however prospective should be aware that there's a known issue with the signal sensing circuitry which cuts out too easily. Basically this means that you have to either leave them on all the time or turn them on and off manually.

There are a few other annoyances as well - forgivable for this super low price - namely the magnetic grills do not stay in place (blu-tak fixes that) and they have no feet at all, so be prepared to blu-tak your own floor spikes on if you want that. Lastly, I recently noticed that a 1" circle of the veneer on one of mine had lifted in the middle of a panel - doesn't really show unless you're up close.

Having said all of that, I think I'll try mine out with some of my 2 channel equipment and may well buy another pair :)

Agreed!  I have a pair of Gallo 10 inchers.  Spoiled....in my 2 channel system can never listen to a "smallish" speaker again without them!

I went ahead and offered $180 for the last Cherry Classico i's on Ebay and it was excepted. I believe all of these are offered by Sawyer Company, the new owners. They are not refurbs but demos and come with a two year warranty by them if registered in thirty days.

Underwood Hifi says these are Elac killers, I know these are Pioneer killers. If you want the same type of sound as the Spatial Turbo M3's the Classico iv's at 1K with a much smaller footprint is it.

If you want a little more bass than the i's without a sub, the II's are listed for $350 a pair. All of these speakers have no crossover, that is why the very high SQ. Can easily be driven by the low powered chip amps and sounds great with those amps :thumb:

I think if you offer them 10 % less, the offer will be accepted.

Read the 6moons rave review on the III's. Those are on Ebay also.
