Price range, open or closed back, dynamic or planer, over ear or on ear, etc?

Sennheiser Orpheus.

On a more serious note... Like Letitroll, I think more info is necessary- this is kind of like saying "I need a new car; what should I buy?"
IEM, full size, over, around, on, open, closed, target price ("reasonable" means different things to different people). Absent this info, the hedfonia article mentioned is a good place as any to start.

I wasn't too thrilled with the Nightowl. It's essentially just a closed version of the Nighthawk and they did a reasonable job matching the tones of the two headphones. It's ok, but but unless you're really hankering for specifically that sound and need the isolation I think you can do better. If you do decide to try it though, you must get it with the new ultrasuede pads (I'm not sure if those come with the NightOwl or not, but the original pads were unlistenable for me and just a muddled mess).

Was it in reference to the new pads? They are a big improvement over the originals.

The rep that I spoke to said it was just a change in the aesthetic and the sound differences were from the pads. My quick audition of them would agree with that. Maybe they did something else inside, but I can't say with 100% certainty.

Hello Dale! To the above poster, I think you are talking about Nighthawks Carbons. These are the new Nighthawks with new pads and cable and paint.

The NightOWL Carbons are new Audioquest headphones that has complete new tuning and come with velour pads and modified stock cable so it's more durable.
I've also heard it fits more in the current audiophile trend with more clarity, details and is faster.
