NW DIY Event Pics

Some pics and commentary from the NW DIY Event.   I apologize in advance for any names I get wrong.   Please chime in and give any corrections as I'm doing this all from memory.

The big guy himself....Al Wooley of RAW Acoustics who sponsors the event telling Terry Olsen to "get out of my house with those speakers!".

Here we have Bob Reimer of Creative Sound.  The Vancouver mental health center was kind enough to let Bob out of his straightjacket for the day.

These were interesting for a couple reasons.   They really showed off what the WR125 is capable of doing.   The cabinet is made from CNC layers of MDF glued together.   This was a TL dinner napkin design by John Chapman.  Call him, he is taking orders starting tomorrow. (just kidding)

Qwest with the big grin and Chris is catching a quick knap.

Just a portion of the day's speakers.

Aaron showing off his design skills.  Aaron works for Magnolia HiFi.  How often do one of the guys working at a hifi shop actually know what they are talking about?  I think the enclosures can be sourced from the KMart garden center.

Room full of speaker geeks.

The Exodus amp stunned everyone.  I heard over and over how it had changed the way they think about audio.   Several people stated that it was perhaps the most important thing to happen to high-end audio in the last fifty years.   Get yours for just $500-$600 and a little work with the soldering iron.   (don't take me too seriously.... I joke around a lot).

"When are these guys going to give out the door prizes so I can go home?"

Yum.... thanks to John Chapman of Bent Audio for the pizza.

My favorite speaker of the event, Morel midbass with Usher 9550.    I don’t remember who brought this fellow so if anyone knows email me so I can give him some credit.

These speakers won the "Terry Olsen Award".

John Chapman of Bent Audio and someone who just heard the Exodus amp for the very first time.

Two-way designed by Dennis Murphy.  I think it was Jason (correct me if I'm wrong) who brought them.   Jason did a clever little trick with the stain to make the cabinet look as though it had an inlay in front.   The driver arrangement is a Seas CA15 & OWI crossed at a rather low 2500K with only a second order crossover.   That must be one tough 3/4" dome!

That is all for now.  Everyone had a blast and I'm looking forward to the next event.

Hey, that's me!  I WAS in fact waiting patiently for the door prizes to be given out...  :P  And I won too!  Thanks Bob, for the WR125Ses!

I liked Jason's speakers too - beautiful job on the cabinet and they sounded great.

I had a good time there, and thanks Al for hosting the event at his place!

Hey Hobbes, welcome to AC, another Canuck!

Oh, and welcome to WR125 ownership too - I bought a set a couple of weeks ago, and am happy with how they are breaking in.  Let us know how you build them up, and how they sound.
