Fellow ACers,
Apart from a local BN, there are no real brick/mortar stores in my town. Therefore, I order online, most recently taking advantage of 10-20% off sales at the popular sites. I received an order today which included the new Wilco release Wilco Schmilco . Before play I used Audio Intelligent one-step solution and my RCM on both sides. I use a vintage zerostat, and then a carbon fiber brush before playing each side. I listened to the entire LP while working out. On both sides there are a couple (two) prominent, loud pops (we've all heard them). I see no visible areas of the vinyl to attack for more vigorous cleaning.
My question to the group. If this were your experience, would you return this LP for replacement or refund? In general I'd like some sense in modern day terms of what is an 'acceptable' new pressing, vs. one that should be returned. I expect returning a warped or otherwise obvious defective item. But where is a reasonable threshold behind which I should accept this as a reasonable example of the pressing plant's product?
Thanks in advance for your thoughtful replies.
Mark
PS- the Wilco LP is pretty spare, and I'll reserve further comment until I listen a few more times. The mix is very good, IMO.
