    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

This was in the early days of SS... tubes were probably 'old hat' in the general public's mind while SS was considered 'trendy' and 'hip'. Doubt Elvis was much of an audiophile. Who knows though.

I doubt he was home much to fully enjoy it, but in the 70's that was a great system.

I used to own the Crown IC150A pre-amp. These components were marketed for the home. It was a nice sounding piece of kit.

It influenced me to buy a later but short lived series of home components that looked and sounded pretty nice, the PL-1 preamp and the PA-1 amp with 50 watts a side.

I remember really wanting a DC 300A in the mid 70's.

I saw the room several years back.  Had 3 (old CRT) TVs in it as well built into the wall, one for each major network.

Memphis was a mecca of music.  I toured Graceland a couple of years ago, but Sun and Stax studio tours were more interesting.

I concur.  While the property was large and had a couple of other buildings, I was surprised that the main house was not bigger on the first floor and basement (the upstairs bedrooms are closed to the public).  Certainly not what I would define as a mansion.

How were the Stax studios?

Stax is now a museum.  Originally a theater, so the sloped floor supposed provided the unique "Stax house sound".  Sun studio, while more modest, is still in use.  The assassination of Martin Luther King really brought the whole city down (had a good racially cooperative atmosphere until then) that it has never recovered from.

Were high end RCA speakers considered good back then and were they sourced or RCA made?
