I'd like to buy an OPPO 103D

As a CD player, what is your experience?  If none, like me, what is your opinion of why this unit gets the good buzz it does?  One reviewer attributes it's (superior) sound to the Sabre chipset it employs.  Says it's more analog like.  I use a Koetsu Black MC phono cartridge which has a reach-out-and-touch-it image physicality that I like.  What I don't want is anything resembling dry or edgy, heck no.

Really do appreciate your insight and opinions in advance.  I'm ready to replace my modest Sony transport and old Bel Canto DAC as we speak.  Can't tolerate its upper midrange graininess any longer.  Thanks.

Are you referring to the 105D? I ask as the 103D does not have the SABRE32 Reference DACs that would be the 105D. I have both the 103 and the 105D. I feel for the money the 103/103D sounds real nice when using the analog outputs. The 105D is a bit more refined but you pay for that refinement. Which ever player you chose contact Oppo to see if they have any refurbished units available. You'll save quite a bit especially on the 105D. I bought a refurbished 105D and it looked like a brand new player that was never unboxed. It was packaged as new and includes the full two year warranty.

I have a 103 from 2012 that I really don't use anymore and I would be willing to let it go.

Let me know if you are interested.
