Phono Stage Thoughts
« on: 10 Apr 2016, 07:35 pm »
My current phono stage is a ProJect Tube Box S. Some dealers and friends are suggesting that this component is a weak link in my system and I would benefit from an upgrade. I am using a VPI Scout II turntable with Sumiko Blackbird MC high output cartridge, Cardas Clear phono cable, the ProJect Tube Box S, Cardas Neutral Reflection interconnects and Bryston B135sst amp, Bryston speaker cables and Elac FS248 speakers. Would the on board Bryston phono stage be better or worse than the ProJect? It would save the use of a set of interconnects. Would the new Bryston phnoo stage and separate power supply be an improvement? Or something else? My biggest concern is in spending a couple of thousand dollars on a component and not hearing the difference over my existing setup. Comments and suggestions are most welcome.
