FS: Pair EVS M100 Amps (moved to Audiogon)
« on: 21 Feb 2016, 10:02 pm »
I have a pair of EVS M100 amps from Ric Schulz that Ric setup with XLR and RCA connections where you can select with a toggle switch.  These are some of the best sounding ICE amps I have heard.  The amp cases have some small surface marks.   I would rate them an Audiogon 7.   I am asking (moved to Audiogon) for the pair plus shipping and paypal fees.  You can see my feedback under GregC on audiogon.

Do you know which ICE modules are used in these amps?

The M100 amps use the ASC200 modules and Ric Schultz did some mods to make them sound even better.  I used them for the mids and highs for a bi-amped open baffle speaker.  I preferred the EVS M100 amps over a Bel Canto S300 I tried on the same speaker, and the S300 uses the same modules.

Yes I think they were rated 150 WPC by Bel Canto (for the ASC200) but 100 is more realistic with 26 DB gain.  They had plenty of power for my needs and sound better than all other ICE module implementations I heard.

Trying to decide if I want to find a mate for either my Hafler DH120 or Parasound HCA-800iI or NAD 2200 and bridge it or go the mono-bloc route....

I cannot help you on your final decision but for $400 the EVS mono amps are a very good bargain for the sound they offer.

I have owned a few ICE amps as well and have to say the ASC200 module is my favorite. I had the PS Audio Trio A-100 and the Bel Canto S-300 and thought the PS Audio amp was much better.

Thanks Timind, I agree that the ASC200 is one of the best sounding modules and Ric tweaked these to sound even better.  I never heard the A-100 but the EVS M-100 sounded much better than the Bel Canto S300 that I owned.
