I am the second owner of these speakers which I bought in August, 2012. The original owner purchased new MMGs and sent them to John for the full blown Magnestand modifications. These speakers have the latest crossover modifications available from John at that time. The frames are Sycamore Q/S wood with the protruding square pinning pegs. The modifications cost $1900, so total cost with the new MMGs [$600] was $2500 plus shipping. I found the Magnestands to be 3-4 dB more sensitive than stock MMGs. I was able to drive them to a reasonable listening level in a 10’ x 13.5’ x 8’ listening room with a 15w 6L6 push pull amp. Of course a high power solid state amp will make the Magnestands stand up and dance, as I did with an Emotiva XPA-2. I just purchased a new MMG shipping box/packing materials from Magnepan in which I’ll ship the panels and wooden support struts. In a separate box I’ll ship the base plates, spikes, crossovers, Herbie’s “IsoDots”, metal brackets and owner‘s manual. As solid copper speaker cables work well with Maggies, I’ll include a seven-foot pair of AntiCable Ref. I speaker cables. They have banana plugs at one end and spades at the other end. I’m asking $1300 plus the cost of FedEx ground service shipping from zip code 24018 and the 3% PayPal fee. The panel shipping box is 53” x 19” x 5” and weighs 44 lbs.
