That's pretty dependent on what you're tweakin', and then (maybe) the cost.

Most of my tweaky accessories go into my junk drawer.  Have tried a few but none have made a noticeable difference.  Even tried giving them away with no success.

Hi JLM,
the same here.
Most if not all the tweaks that people said it made a big difference in their systems,
for me it made very little and-or no difference at all, therefore,
money lost and they end up in a corner of my listening room gathering dust.
If some believe the tweaks makes a difference, well, good for them.

Fuses, some Power conditioning / or power cords, better capacitors, room acoustics, and certain isolation components do yield results in systems that are musical, and high resolution enough to warrant them.

However, a $50 dollar plastic dot, or a $300 dollar "Wall Harmonizer" are complete jokes, and a huge waste of every ones money.

2 categories of tweaks exist -

1 - Fundamental Tweaks

2 - Voodoo Tweaks

I look at: 1) how long the tweak has been in the system under review; 2) how long the same components have been in the system under review.

Tweaks are highly system dependent.I'm not going to say tweaks don't make a difference. Just not a night/day difference.

I think you are better off limiting tweaks to simple things like ear-wax remover or evening listening with eyes closed.

I believe you are better off addressing clean AC & proper 'dressing.' In other words, don't leave the cables in a jumble on the floor behind your equipment shelving.

Good luck.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

I too, am curious where tweaks go. Maybe "The Lab" circle along with other DIY ideas??

Are room treatments considered tweaking? Definitely an area deserving a little extra attention. Grounding comes to mind as well.
