I am the original owner of this absolutely mint condition and much heralded Yamaha A-S801 Integrated. I am reluctantly letting this go as I do not have room for this fantastic sounding amp (my office listening room is being dismantled). This unit was purchased in November of 2015 (yes, this past November) and I wouldn’t even say the amp is fully broken in yet with only about 40 hours on it. It has not been moved since I put it in my audio rack on day one.
I have owned many Yamaha integrateds to include the A-S1000, 2000, 2100 and vintage CR-1020 and CA-810 and I would place the 801 ahead of the all but the 2100! The 801 is an extreme value to say the least. Some highlights of the amp would be the magnificent sounding Sabre DAC that plays up to 128DSD, a great headphone stage and a more then excellent sounding MM phono stage.
