Using dbpoweramp to rip, Musicbee as player
« on: 21 Dec 2015, 05:38 pm »
I am just learning computer audio, so am still climbing the learning curve.  I have been ripping CDs with dbpoweramp, which puts them in my laptops "MUSIC" file.  On MusicBee, I go to File>add to library  then MUSIC file pops up.  I open Artist, open album and all the tracks are shown.

Then, I have to one by one re click File>add to library, the open next track and so on.  I tried another option under File, that scans for new files, but nothing installed and I had to go back to track by track method.

I feel certain there are settings I am not entering in dbpoweramp that would allow this, likely in the box on the lower left?  What am I messing up?

Thanks,

Russellc

I don't think it has anything to do with ripping in dBpoweramp.

Have you setup the MusicBee Library to monitor your Music folder under Edit > Preferences > Library?  I have mine set to "continuously monitor" music folder(s), although you could select "scan on startup only".  Then select what you want it to do with the files, i.e. "add to library".

You should not need to use the manual File > Edit "Add Files to Library" or "Scan Folders for New Files" unless you have chosen not to continuously monitor folders.

FYI - If you don't want to monitor folders and prefer to add albums manually, you can browse to the album folder and select all of the tracks to import by selecting the first file, then holding the Shift key while you click the last file in the range (or use Ctrl + A to "select all").  You can also use the Ctrl key + click to select/deselect individual files.  Either way you don't have to individually add each file in the album.

Thank you, I will try this. I knew there was some way to do it other than the painstaking way of one by one.  I did 2 CDs last night with 23 and 25 tracks....got old fast!

OK, the control A thing works, but when I tried the auto way, it just took the first two songs of the two new files....
