As we all love music, this is a must-see.

It's about the group (not a band as they promote it) of studio musicians that played on so many iconic studio albums from the Monkees to Jefferson Airplane to Neil Diamond and the Beach Boys. It's almost all personal interviews with the musicians themselves.

It was done via Kickstarter by one of the musician's sons so it's has its weaknesses but there's a lot of good inside information and some good stories.

I assume you can see it on Netflix but the DVD has tons of additional material.

Great film.  I had no idea how influential these "back up" musicians were.  Very cool.  It also gave perspective to "Love and Mercy" and some of the other bio-pics/documentaries about the pop music industry in the 60s and 70s.

Combine this great DVD with "20 feet from Stardom" and you will know just about everything you need to know about the great top 40 hits from the 60s and early 70s.

It's about Darlene Love, Merry Clayton and the great background singers from that era. Several artists like Sting and Springsteen talk about the importance of the background singers and how hard it is to walk that 20 feet from background to lead singer. It won an Academy Award as Best Documentary when it was released. http://twentyfeetfromstardom.com/

It is terrific. Opens with Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side playing.
