Gingko Platform for Well Tempered Amadeus ?
« on: 11 Dec 2015, 12:41 am »
Hello Everyone.
Re: Gingko Platform #10:

I am using an Amadeus with Dynavector XX2 cartridge.
Overall I feel I am getting very good sound.
I have my Amadeus on an Adonna rack ((multi-element shelf) granite shelve with mdf glued to bottom) between my Wilson X-1 speakers. I mentioning this due to the fact the X-1's can provide very substantial bass response.
I do not hear/feel overload in bass, however sometimes I think not as well defined as possible.

What experiences have folks on this Circle had with Gingko Platform under the Amadeus ?

Thanks,
BIll

I don't have much to add about the Ginko Platform. However, I'm under the general impression that the platform should mimic the turntable. For example, I have an IKEA Lack table that was great for my previous Rega turntable (light and rigid). My guess is the best best platform for an Amedeus would be Baltic birch. But I could be totally wrong.

Hiya
The Ginko didn't work well with the Amadeus. Not sure why. Seemed to rob the goodness out of the table.
It seemed ok with a friends VPI, which if memory serves the Ginko came out around the same time as the Mk3 VPI, and was sold with it by some.
I agree with new vinyl, some products clearly align with others. His/her observation of Baltic birch is spot on for an Amadeus, and a very correct answer.
Best

I had a Gingko 9s for a while under my VPI Scout. It did help with the skipping problem due to floor
resonance but the table sounded lifeless to me. I decides to mount the Scout on a wall shelf that I made
with some heavy duty brackets from Lowes and it sounded much better. I sold the Gingko shortly after.

I use BBP for platforms and rate it very highly
