P Audio coax round over
« on: 2 Dec 2015, 10:17 pm »
Hi all. I was reading up on this, and found in the original v1 thread from years ago, a 3/4 inch round over was recommended.  I have a 3/8 round over bit and was just planning to use that until I read that old thread. Any opinions or advice?

The meat of that thread at that point was about altering the design. Which I am kinda doing, butddon't know enough about the frequency requirements and the adverse affects of the wrong size round over.

Thanks.

How thick is the baffle ?  If it is only  .75", I'd think you'll be ok witha .375" radius. If it's 1" or 1.5"  thick, I'd go with a minimum .5"  (1" baffle) or.75" (1.5" baffle) radius. You want to reduce that  flat surface inside the cutout to reduce reflections from it.
I believe I used a .875"  radius on the rear of my  1.5" OB7 bafles

It depends on the baffle thickness. If it is just 3/4" then the 3/8" round over is fine. If the baffle is thicker then a bigger round over will be best.

Ha, Jay beat me to it.

It is 2 pieces of 3/4 inch mdf laminated like the super v plans. The driver is inset about a half inch so the remaining is about 1 inch. I will get a 1/2 bit and call it good.

Thanks gentlemen.

You can stair step the hole sizes a little too. That will help.
