I'm not looking for the "best", just a good match.  This will probably be my winter purchase/diy build. Budget is between $500-$1000.  Used and diy are fine. I really like some firstwatt clones, but don't think they have enough power.

Currently I use a class d amp from classdaudio.com,  which is fine, but I like to try new things.

Specs on the 4xo (these are NOT the classic walsh driver) vary on the speaker's website:

1) min/max 30W/500W, 91dB sensitivity,  8 ohm
2) 50-200W, 90 dB sensitivity,  6 ohm

Generally the more power(providing it is good power)the better, although the XO series are a bit more efficient. I would say finding something like an NAD C272 or some of the Rotels could be a good start, and there certainly are a plethora of Class d amps with more than enough power to do the business. Unsure on DIY, but probably quite a few designs out there that would also work.

By the way, nice speakers, they can sure be a lot of fun, have owned OW2's, 3XO's, MWT's. Have enjoyed them all.

I use a modded Carver Pro amp's with my Ohm's.  I find them to be a great match.  Point is, maybe one of the Digital amps that are popular now would provide high power and meet your budget.
