Good day to you all.

My name is Erik 52 years old and i live in The Netherlands. Since a couple of days i'm the proud owner of a Bryston 4BRX produced in august 1990. And he will soon be accompanied by a set of Acoustic Energy AE1's. That is the reissued Classic version.

My interest for audiocirle is because I found out that there is a Bryston circle here. In my early years i already listened to Bryston with my father and my brother. The brand was new in the audio over here and gave spectacular value for money. Later on, in the lat 80's there was the revaluation of the Acoustic Energy AE1. I listened to them. But they were above budget.

Later on my interest in "quality audio equipment" faded to the background. Or maybe better, a very busy family life did not leave lot of time for hobbies.
Since some time i search the internet for brands and used quality equipment that fits my budget.

About a week ago i found a set of Acoustic Energy AE1 Classics. They seem to be hardly used. I know they need a pretty serious amp. And thus i went looking for a speedy powerfull amp to accompany the AE1's. And then i found the Bryston 4BRX. It "already" has 2 round transformers. The amp build in august 1990. So over 25 years old and maybe a little too old. I have to find out.

The amp comes from the first owner. And seems to be in pretty good condition. Outside and inside. It seems to be good taken care off. Since it is already 25 years old it also feels a bit like a gamble. I have to find out if it is really good. Fingers crossed.

To finish with: my set also contains a Linn Classik all-in-one (tuner, cd-player, integrated amp). The Linn will be delivering the source by using the pre-out of the Linn.

Any advise, remarks and questions are welcome.

Thank you, Erik
