With apparently no one registering a tradename, it's fair game for anyone and difficult to say who copied who (whom).

Without hearing any of them, I would venture a guess that the Salk Sondscaps Spewkers are the best (and most expensive).

Technically the name is "circle-c" copywritten the minute it's put into use and published. The only thing someone has to prove is first usage. So the ability to show a published date. It's not "circle-r" registered as a copyright until it's run through the USPTO.
