*** TRADED AWAY / SOLD ***

Beautiful looking and sounding amps. They just don't currently have a home in any of my rigs. So they are up for sale.

-- Here are the details on the amps. PM with questions. --

These are Larry Moore UltraFi 300B Monoblocks. Most of Larry's amps are one-off's... I've never seen another pair just like these. Larry built these amps about 10yrs ago.

I am not the original owner of these amps but this is what I know. From the previous owner...

"These compact 300B monoblock amplifiers are built on a furniture grade two tone birdseye maple and walnut mission style chassis and have scant footprints of a mere 8.25 inches wide by 14.25 inches deep. The perfect size for your office, apartment, dorm room, or, even, your main system.

The signal sections comprises a three stage direct and capacitively coupled design using the GE 6sn7gtb twin triode (included) and the EH 300B directly heated triode (included).

The power supplies use a NOS military surplus transformer and choke, and a 6dm4a diode dampener (included) for slow turn on of the B+. The power supply filters are a CLC configuration. All filaments are AC heated with the exception of the 300B which uses a special dc circuit including a 10 turn pot for low output ripple, less than 5mV.

The top plate is 1/8" aluminum and the tube sockets are ceramic. Stainless steel hardware is used throughout."

The Electro Harmonix 300B tubes still have life left but I dont have a tube tester to say how much. Western Electric claimed that their tubes operated within spec should last for 40K hours... Even if these last half that long I'm guessing they have a LOT of life left. They sound good still.

I bought these amps about two years ago and have only listened to them for a couple hundred hours I would guess. I've used them with my ShengYa V518's which were 92db/1w/1m, I had some Tekton Lore's at 98db/1w/1m, and my customized Klipsch KPT-904's which are about 104db/1w/1m, and some small monitors using Fostex 4.5" full-rangers. They have performed very very well on all of them. I loved them with my V518's (Which I just sold and why these are sitting unused.)

For a Direct Heated Triode they are very quiet amps. I turn my preamp volume all the way up with nothing playing and then adjust the hum pot for maximum quiet and then turn them down. Very musical amps with that magical 300B midrange. I love jazz and current indie folk and indie rock and for my listening prefs they are sublime. PRAT and tone are excellent, as well as soundstage and imaging.

I have used them with both a passive (Luminous Audio Axiom 2) and several active preamps. While some guys swear SETs and passives are perfect, I liked the extra drive and boogie I get from an active preamp with my speakers. My favorite is my Juicy Music Blueberry XTreme 2, closely followed by a modded MingDa MC-7R.

I have seen UltraFi amps go for $1800 to $2500 used on Ebay and new they were around $4000 from Larry. These put out about 7.5 to 8.5 watts at 8 Ohms."
