RCA Cable Tester
« on: 14 Sep 2015, 10:56 am »
Can someone please recommend a budget friendly cable tester for RCA's?

I am considering constructing my own unbalanced cables and would like to be able to test when complete.

Also, if I can solicit some opinions on good bulk cable options.

Thanks -

Hi, you can just use a multimeter with a continuity tester (as I think they all do).

Hot - Hot - BEEP
Cold - Cold - BEEP
Hot - Cold - No sound
Cold - Hot - No sound

If you don't have or want a multimeter, there's plenty of reasonable stuff such as - http://www.parts-express.com/behringer-ct100-cable-tester-6-in-1--248-734

As far as bulk cable, what is the intended use?  Video?  Analog Audio?  Digital Coax?

Interconnects between components.

I am specifically looking at the Nanotechnology Systems Music Strade #207.

I have all Blue Jeans interconnects right now.  Trying to decide if an upgrade is worth the $$.

Everyone on this forum should have a multi-meter DMM. I see usable ones in the outlet stores for under $5.00.
They have a model # something like:

In a word, no.
It's highly unlikely that you can get a RCA interconnect cable better than the Blue Jeans LC-1.

This seems to be your mantra... what other cables have you tried?

Exactly. Some very inexpensive and simple AC power testers have continuity functions too.
